WIC Week Co-Chair

Meet Chenelle Marshall, NAWIC Atlanta’s WIC Week Co-Chair. As a Construction Administration Coordinator at an architectural firm, Chenelle has seen firsthand how many different roles women play across construction and design. Her own experience has challenged the perceptions she once had about the industry and inspired her to help more women recognize that there is a place for them in construction.
Career Journey
Chenelle’s first experience in construction put her right in the middle of the action, working onsite in a construction trailer alongside a Construction Management team for an engineering consulting firm.
It was the beginning of a career that would ultimately change the way she viewed the construction industry and the opportunities available within it.
Today, as a Construction Administration Coordinator, Chenelle works at the intersection of architecture and construction while continuing to build her knowledge and experience in the industry.
Leadership
Chenelle joined the NAWIC Atlanta Board because she wanted to serve an organization that actively strengthens and supports women in the industry.
“I wanted to find a meaningful way to contribute.”
Serving as WIC Week Co-Chair gives her an opportunity to make a difference while continuing to grow personally and professionally. She’s especially excited to build relationships with other women, learn from their experiences and surround herself with strong women who inspire her.
But she doesn’t just want to learn from others. Chenelle also hopes to share the knowledge and experience she has gained throughout her own career and find new ways to support the women around her.
Ultimately, saying yes to leadership was about being part of something bigger than herself: connecting, learning, serving and helping create more opportunities for women in construction.
Industry
Growing up, Chenelle thought of construction as a man’s job.
Working in the industry completely changed that perception.
She’s now seeing women succeed at every level and across a wide range of roles, from the field to leadership. Witnessing those stereotypes being challenged firsthand has been one of the most inspiring parts of her career.
“There really is no ‘man’s job’ or ‘woman’s job.’ There are opportunities for people who are willing to learn, work hard and build a career.”
Chenelle believes women bring the same knowledge, skills, leadership and determination to the industry, and she hopes sharing experiences like hers will encourage more women to see construction as a place where they belong.
For her, it’s not simply about increasing representation. It’s about helping women recognize that they can build successful, fulfilling careers here.
Why NAWIC?
Before Chenelle officially became a NAWIC member, she attended her first Monthly Business Meeting.
That introduction eventually led to membership and now a leadership position within the chapter.
The opportunity to connect with other women is a major part of what drew Chenelle to NAWIC. She sees the organization as a place to learn from women with different experiences, develop meaningful relationships and contribute her own knowledge to a community committed to helping women succeed.
As WIC Week Co-Chair, she now has the opportunity to help create those same experiences for others.
Beyond Construction
Outside of work, Chenelle loves to travel the world.
Exploring new places gives her an opportunity to recharge, experience different perspectives and step away from the day-to-day before returning ready for her next challenge.
